Zina Mamedova-Kohoutova received her training at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St.Petersburg, Russia and holds a teaching and choreography degree from Moscow Arts University. She received further teacher training at the London School of Contemporary Dance. As a student she danced with the Kirov Ballet Company and later performed principal roles with the National Theatre Ballet Company in Prague, Moscow Classical Ballet, and Dushanbe Opera Ballet in Tajikistan. She has performed lead roles in Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Don Quixote, Paquita, Giselle, and various other classical and contemporary works. Ms. Mamedova’s guest teaching experience has taken her all over the world including Germany, Norway, Japan, Greece, Belgium and various other countries. She has staged many ballet classics, as wellas prepared choreography for several prize-winning students at international competitions in Varna, Moscow and Lausanne. Since the early nineties she has resided in London and has taught at various schools there, including the English National Ballet School, Urdang Academy, Arts Educational School of London, among others. She continues to teach master classes and guest teaches around the world. Kingsport Ballet was pleased to host Ms. Mamedova once again as guest instructor in summer workshop 2005, where she provided instruction in ballet and pointe, character and historical.
