History and Location

Our new studios are located at 201 Cherokee Street, a newly renovated building in the heart of downtown Kingsport. This is a spacious facility, made possible by the fundraising efforts of the Parents Coalition and the generous donations of area businesses and individuals. Some of its best features include:
- Four mirrored dance studios with sprung floors, each with its own, large observation window (one way mirrors). Visitors are always welcome during class hours.
- Over 15,000 square feet of space, including junior and senior dressing rooms, spacious bathrooms, and a unique waiting/observation room.
- Our largest studio features 2,600 square feet of dance space. The studio has high spacious ceilings.
- All studios are sprung for comfort and safety and are covered in Marley flooring.

The Kingsport Ballet is a non-profit, 501-c-3, ballet school and dance company. It is the result of a merger between the State of Franklin Dance Alliance (SFDA) and the Kingsport Guild of Ballet (KGB). The KGB studio was purchased in 1999 by seven area volunteers called the Parents Coalition. Their goal was to preserve the standards and teaching quality with which the school was created. They launched a capital campaign and raised over $30,000 from the community to fund the renovations of the previous studio. Facing continued growth Kingsport Ballet has now moved to a new location with twice the space for more and larger studios. Kingsport Ballet has long been known for having a strong volunteer work force, which devotes many hours to everything from designing and creating costumes, administrative duties, carpentry work and backstage management, to comprehensive advertising campaigns.
