Heather Macdonald is a 16 year old junior at Dobyns- Bennett High School. She has studied the art of classical ballet under Valeria Sinyavskaya and Rostislav Dzabraev. In addition to Kingsport Ballet’s summer dance intensives she has attended other summer workshops, such as those at Montgomery Ballet, Alabama Ballet, and The Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts. These additional opportunities have furthered her understanding of all types of dance. Heather has participated in The Nutcracker since fifth grade along with other full length classical ballets such as Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake. She enjoys dancing and plans to continue to dance after graduation. In addition to school and dance, Heather is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in Gap Student Exchange Program with Albrecht Durer Oberschule in Berlin, Germany.
Katie Todd is a junior at Dobyns-Bennett High School. She has been a student at Kingsport Ballet for eleven years, studying primarily under Valeria Sinyavskaya. She participates annually in the Tennessee Association of Dance workshops as well as Kingsport Ballet’s Summer Intensives receiving instruction from Giana Jigarhan, Sergei Gorbatov, Zina Mamedova-Kohoutova, Nina Maria Lucas, Tina Yarborough Liggins as well as Erika Ballard, Pat Holden and Rostislav Dzabraev. Katie has also attended the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC where she studied with Jacqueline Akhmedova. She has performed in Kingsport Ballet’s productions of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Les Sylphides. When not at ballet, Katie likes to spend time with friends, watch movies, travel, scuba dive, and participate in activities with her church youth group.Isabella Velasco is a sophomore at Dobyns Bennett High School where she is taking honors classes and is a member of the DB Orchestra. She is also an active member in the Student Council, participates in Science Olympiad and Beta Club. She has been studying dance at Kingsport Ballet for ten years and has been a member of the company for four years. She has performed in KB productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Nutcracker and Platinum Celebration. Isabella has been studying classical ballet under the direction of Ms. Valeria Sinyavskaya for the past eight years. She has also studied modern and jazz with Mrs. Erika Ballard, Mrs. Becky Hall, and Mrs. Tonya Harris. She has also taken partnering classes with Rostislav Dzabraev. In 2006, she was accepted to the Kirov Academy of Ballet (in Washington D.C.) Summer Intensive and received instruction from Madame Lyubov Fominich. She has also attended KB’s Summer Intensive with guest instructors Sergei Gorbatov, Irina Ushakova, and Vladimir Angelov. She enjoys reading, playing the violin and piano, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
