Alma Velasco is Business Manager of Kingsport Ballet, where she oversees all bookkeeping and payroll duties of the organization. Ms. Velasco is an original Parents Coalition member since 1999, and after the organization’s 2001 merger, has served as Treasurer and Secretary of the board of directors for several consecutive terms. In addition to her management duties Ms. Velasco presides over the school’s ballet boutique, manages guest artists’ travel and transportation, and is in charge of the school performances and box office during productions. Ms. Velasco has recreated the educational workbook materials and teachers’ guides for use in the organization’s full-length ballets’ educational outreach performances. Ms. Velasco attended University of Santo Tomas in Manila , Philippines, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Ms. Velasco was a 2006 Arts Council of Greater Kingsport’s Arts Award nominee for arts leadership. She is originally from the Philippines and currently lives in Kingsport with her husband Jose and their four children.
