Adriana Dew is a graduate of Kingsport Ballet where she danced for 9 years under Karen Gibbons-Brown, Sarah Noel Dillow, and Valeria Sinyavskaya. Adriana was recipient of the Individual Artist in Dance award from the Arts Council of Greater Kingsport in 2003. In 2004 Adriana attended Wake Forest University under the Presidential Scholarship for Dance, and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She has attended various summer ballet workshops including American Ballet Theater, the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C. under instructor Alla Sizova, and the Hungarian Ballet Academy in Budapest with Gyula Pandi and students from North Carolina School of the Arts. She has performed in Kingsport Ballet productions including The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Giselle, Coppelia, and La Sylphide, in addition to numerous classical, contemporary, modern, and jazz original choreographed works with the Wake Forest Dance Company. As a student at Wake Forest, Adriana primarily trained with Brantly Bright Shapiro, Fanchon Cordell, and Nina Maria Lucas. Additionally, Adriana served as a substitute teacher for Wake Forest’s community ballet program, and she choreographed and staged her own work in the company’s spring production in 2008. Adriana has taught beginning ballet and jazz classes for Kingsport Ballet’s summer workshops since 2002. She will be teaching Jazz and Ballet during the 2009-2010 season.
